Imagine you have been selected to curate an exhibit. What is the theme? Which artists will you include? Will you include your own work? Describe the ideal location, space, and arrangement of the exhibit. The gallery space can be one you invent, or it can be an existing gallery/museum space.
My theme would be nature inspired with a focus on organic shapes and form. The indoor space would be organic as if you were walking through a Dr. Seuss book, lots of curves. I’m not completely sure about the wall color, but something neutral, perhaps tan or beige. I would want lots of natural light from the sides and above. Plants would be hanging from ceilings, and potted trees would be scattered throughout. I also envision comfy seating throughout the exhibit. The exhibit will travel outside into nature revealing 3-D works and installations. Artists I would like to include are: Spencer Byles, Andrew Goldsworthy, Ruth Asawa, Kay Sekimachi, Susanna Bauer, Tom Hare and others with similar styles.
